April 6, 2015 kscope

If you’ve spoken to us on the phone or via email, odds are you’ve spoken with Jessica G! Jessica is our resident customer-service-everything and works with all of our clients to book their parties and help with everything following up to their events. She’s also one of our favorite temporary tattoo artists!

10259787_1185578468137387_6501172467952094120_nJessica started with Kaleidoscope at the very beginning when she helped us put together our princess line, Princess Party Perfect. In March 2015 she also moved into our office to help out with the behind-the-scenes party booking.

Jessica has been singing as long as she could talk, and performing since she could walk! After doing theatre and chorus groups her whole life, Jessica graduated from the American Musical & Dramatic Academy NYC in 2010. Jessica then performed at Six Flags for a number of summers/falls/winters in several productions in their entertainment department, continued doing community theatre, and spent a number of years as a professional wedding singer.

Jessica is also now the mom of two boys that she and her husband welcomed in 2020 & 2023, and also the mom of 3 pugs.

While her professional princessing has taken a back seat to her role in Kaleidoscope’s office she’s still available as a temporary tattoo artist and bubble performances. She would love to be at your next event!

Interview with Jess

When and why did you start working at Kaleidoscope?

I was super passionate about Princesses and getting paid to act- so this seemed like a really wonderful opportunity. It also allowed me to spend time and catch back up in adulthood with my best friend.

What’s your favorite art form (or performance etc) to do here?

I love doing temporary tattoos, but I’m currently learning bubbles and I think that’s quickly going to become my favorite!

What is your favorite part of Doing Temporary Tattoos!?

I love how you can do temp tattoos so fast and get to chat with so many people! It gives little kids who can’t wait in line something fun to do, or offers something fast for a mom or dad who don’t want to wait a long time for other things we offer.

What are people’s reactions when you tell them what your job is?

Most people don’t really understand what I do, like what do you mean you’re a “temporary tattoo artist”? But since I work in our office I usually just say I’m a talent agent, since that’s true and honestly less confusing for them. No one thinks this is a real job

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about what you do?

How many hours I work per week. For our office team we hit around 30-40 hours a week (depending on the week) but then also have events on evenings and weekends. In June I typically work 50-60 hours a week, 7 days a week, but it calms down a lot in the colder months.

What do you think your superpower as an Entertainer is?

My ability to chat to people of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences. I really love listening and getting to know new people at events!

What was the most memorable party you ever entertained at?

I signed an NDA, but it was the most fun I’ve ever had at a job 😉

What’s your favorite part of your job?

I love how much I’ve gotten to travel, and I’ve loved getting to experience different events. Every event is a totally different experience for us, so it’s a great job if you get bored easily.

What’s your favorite part of working with kids?

They’re so funny! I love chatting with little kids and hearing some of the things they say.

What’s one piece of advice you give to every parent planning a birthday party?

Since I also am planning parties for my kids throughout the year- do it ahead of time and don’t wait until the last minute. Getting everything out of the way early helps you to be more organized and get what you want done at your event. I don’t want to try to book something and have it be sold out, or not know how many guests are coming and how long I should hire entertainment for, etc.

What’s one thing you want every corporate event planner to know?

Plan ahead!!!!!!!!! Also, get a little MORE entertainment than you think you’ll need, because you want people to have options, and you want everyone attending to be able to do at least one or two different activities. Also, please answer your phone when we call to advance your event (lol), we want to make sure we have all the correct details.

What is the biggest factor in determining if a college event will go smoothly or not?

If we can get ahold of the organizer.

What is your favorite activity for summer camp event entertainment and why?

Foam Parties are the coolest things I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait to book one when my kids are a bit older
