Farmington CT Magician and Face Painter: Alexis!

February 21, 2023 kscope

Alexis is one of Kaleidoscope’s premier party entertainers, who would love to come to your next event for magic, games, and tons of fun!

Alexis is a professionally trained actress with two characters she plays: Oasis and Lexi.

Alexis has been involved in theatre, musical and otherwise, since the age of 11. Since she can remember, she has always had an affinity for the arts. She’s been in productions at various theatres over the years, with some of her favorite roles including Janet in The Rocky Horror Show, Gloria in Boeing Boeing, Kathy in Company, and Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods (all pictured below). In addition to all of this, Alexis has worked in improvisational dinner theatre and worked on the Kaleidoscope office team voice actress for many of the videos you see on this website.

Whether you hire her as Oasis or Lexi, you can see Alexis’s verified Google reviews below:

Magic with Oasis Packages

If you hire Oasis, your guests will encounter a magical character at your event who will ask their help to help her fulfill a magical spell. Using potions, metals, wood, and other earthly materials, Oasis’s strolling experience is perfect for families and adults and can be themed to most events and ages.

Oasis’s Strolling Magic FAQ

Is Oasis for Children or Adults?

Both! Oasis’s character combines the nostalgia of “quest” type video games for adults, plus plenty of curiosity for kids. Nothing she does is scary, and all if it can be enjoyed by all ages.

What is Strolling Magic?

Oasis will walk through the crowd at your event, walking up to people and introducing herself. Guests will see her magic one-on-one and get to have a hands on experience with her.

Does Oasis have a Magic Show?

As of right now, Oasis only does strolling magic.

If you’d like to book a magic show with Alexis, keep scrolling down for her Lexi packages, or check out our other magicians.

Can Oasis come in other Costumes?

Oasis is a character of Alexis’s own imagination, and only comes in one costume (pictured below), which we describe as a mix of witchy-bohemian-video-game-fantasy.

If you’d like a specific costume, keep scrolling down for her Lexi packages, or check out our other magicians.

Magic with Lexi Packages

Whether it’s as a fairy, mermaid, pirate, or cute clown, Lexi’s packages are perfect for younger kids ages 2-6 and for parties looking for a little extra sparkle in their entertainment. Whether it’s a toddler party full of repeat-after-me singalong songs and parachute games, or a magic show where kids get to test out their own magical abilities, every event with Lexi focuses on interactivity, age-appropriate activities, and lots of bright colors.

Lexi’s Kids Magic FAQ

Is Lexi only for girls?

Nope! Lexi’s character is kind, funny, energetic, and full of curiosity. Kids of any gender can relate to her, and while she specializes in ages 2-6, kids up until middle school will enjoy her entertainment style.

What kind of Games does Lexi Play with Kids?

Lexi’s games packages are very similar to our toddler party packages. Depending on the age, number, and energy of the kids, Lexi will play simple games that are a mix of repeat-after-me songs (like you might remember from summer camp growing up), classic games like hot/cold or red rover (themed to whichever character she’s playing), and parachute games (as long as the space is big enough for a 16′ parachute).

Games will very with different parties, as we leave it up to Lexi to gauge her audience and space.

Can Lexi Come to do strolling magic at my large event? or do a large-scale stage show?

Lexi’s packages are specially formulated for smaller parties: specifically, groups small enough that kids can participate in her magic show and play games with her. Part of her charm would be lost in a large event, so if you’re going to have more than 40 kids we recommend Kenny the Clown (who Lexi apprenticed under during her magic training) or James (a master magician with more than 50 years of experience.

If you want strolling magic for all ages, we suggest her character Oasis (which you can see scrolling up on this page) or you can check out  any of our other magicians.

Interview with Alexis: Farmington CT Magician and Face Painter

When and why did you start working at Kaleidoscope?

I believe started at Kaleidoscope towards the end of 2022. I started working there because my friend Khara (who I knew from theatre) who worked for the company recommended them to me. I love any form of performance–anything to feed the artist in me!
After doing a couple of gigs I knew this was something I wanted to stick with and learn all the mediums of artistry they had to offer!

What’s your favorite art form (or performance etc) to do here?

Oh gosh! That is hard to pick because we offer so much but… maybe face painting? Because it is so interpretive and creative. Everyone’s style is a little different. But anything performance-related like the magic shows are also a favorite so it truly depends on the day!
I do balloon twisting too, but balloons are finicky and as much as the artistry is lovely, there is so much flexibility and creative leeway with face painting. I always lean towards feeling more like a “face painter” than a “balloon twister”!

What is your favorite part of Being a Magician?

I love connecting with people. No matter if it’s face painting as a character or do a magic show, you’re always doing something that connects you and makes people happy! =

What are people’s reactions when you tell them what your job is?

They always talk about how this is a fun way to make money, and I wholeheartedly agree!!!

What is one surprising fact about you?

I went to school and got my masters in criminal justice.. nothing related to performance or art!!

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about what you do?

Probably how much practice goes into all of it, no matter which art form it is.

Training to become a balloon twister or face painter usually takes around 20 hours (each) and magic much longer. A lot of clients think they can just have a volunteer or someone in their family watch a YouTube video and go for it, but the truth is that it takes a looooong time to get good at!

What was the most memorable party you ever entertained at?

I think it was probably this big corporate event in the beginning of me being with Kaleidoscope.
The theme was “light up the night” and it was my first time doing glitter looks, which is sort of like an adult version of face painting. I think they had around a dozen of us there applying glitter, false lashes, face painting, and handing out swag. I just remember having so much fun, I couldn’t believe this was my job!

What’s your favorite part of being a professional face painter or magician?

Being able to do what I love. Ever since I was a kid I always liked art, no matter what form of art we were taking and I am happy and blessed to be able to do this job.

What is your favorite activity for summer camp event entertainment and why?

Bubble play or magic shows–anything interactive seems to be a big hit! Balloon twisting and face painting are fun too, but when it’s more hands on (and you can entertain a bigger group at once), everyone has fun and is able to participate in some way.
